We get on board with the idea when it comes to many things, but what about fitness?
So many people hate “working out”, yet they do it as a means to an end: lose weight, be able to eat more, look a certain way, etc. They dread the WOD, the ride, the run, the class, but they suffer through it.
Day. After. Day.
My unsolicited advice?
Don’t do anything you hate.
Honestly. That goes for my students too! If you hate kettlebells or my programing (or my personality?)… if you dread coming for any reason: Don’t. Come. #srsly
There are so many options out there for moving & getting strong & fit & meeting whatever goal you have. Don’t spend one second doing something you don’t like.
I used to love running. But after being a competitive runner for years and then being told that I shouldn’t run, the activity I loved was taken away from me.
In the next 7 years, I tried lots of different activities before I found kettlebells. I won’t say it was love at first sight, but I was intrigued and wanted to learn more. After 3 months of training for the certification, I was pretty sure & then after a weekend certification with Pavel & Brett (@brettjonessfg my team leader & all-around fantastic human), @ Gabby (@1gab_e), I was in love. With kettlebells, of course 😉. After 12 years of throwing these things around, I still feel like there’s so much to learn. And I love that. I am truly enjoying my journey with kettlebells.
.
The bottom line: set a goal and find something you love ❤️ so you can enjoy the journey. Keep in mind, you may have to kiss a few frogs to find “the one”. Be open to trying new things. Find someone with the same mindset who can help you along your journey. It may be a long road and you don’t want to do anything that costs your happiness along the way.
