Motivation & Hope

PSA: Don’t wait & hope you’ll be motivated!

Checking in with a new PSCrew member & asked when she was doing her training today. This was her reply: “I hope I’ll be motivated to lift after a long day of work & holiday celebrations.”

Not calling anyone out 😘 but I’ve heard this a lot recently.

Here’s what happens: our normal strength day lands on a very busy day. We have the best of intentions to stick to the plan & hope that at some point between all of the things we have to do, we’ll miraculously have the urge to exercise.

Spoiler alert: If you’re waiting to feel motivated, you’ll likely NOT get that feeling, you WON’T do your training, and you’ll feel like a FAILURE. Especially if your exercise routine is new.

So what do you do?

✅ Plan time in your day to squeeze your training in. Know that you’ll try to get out of it, that it might be shorter than planned, and that it’s going to feel like ONE MORE THING. But also know that regardless, you will do some strength training.
➡️ This option is for you if you feel like you haven’t kept commitments to you yourself in the past.

~OR~

✅ Move your planned training to the next day. Know that life happens and even the best plans have to be shifted so you can live your life.
➡️ This option is for you if you have been the “all or nothing” person in the past. If you tend to stick to plans rigidly, remind yourself that wiggle room is necessary sometimes.

I hope this little bit of advice helps you navigate your training this season. 💪
