Student Spotlight: Amy – Kettlebell Momma

By News & Events, Pacific Strength No Comments

Our Student Spotlight this month is Super Kettlebell Momma Amy Long, SFG. She has an adorable almost-3-year-old girl and just added a boy to the clan 6 weeks ago. She’s funny and inspiring and always looks great, so we decided to pick her brain to try and figure out how she does it!   NBKB: What drew you to kettlebell training? AL: It was more of an introduction than me seeking them out. I was introduced to them five years ago by my then trainer, Mike Spiegel of New York City’s Crunch Fitness. Mike helped me find Val who helped me find Gabby…

Swing Workshop

By Fitness, News & Events, Pacific Strength, Workshops No Comments

We hope you’re all looking forward to the Swing Workshop on Saturday, September 13th! We know you all know how to swing, but this will help you fine-tune what you do every class. During this workshop, we’ll break the swing down and find the one thing YOU need to make your swing even more powerful and allow you to do more work in less time. Dan John talks about the swing being a really inefficient exercise, in that you use all of your energy every swing. Now, that may sound confusing, but an efficient exercise is something like kipping pull-ups or cycling…

By News & Events, Pacific Strength One Comment

8 weeks to hit your goals… The kids are back to school and summer vacations are over and done with. Nothing can stop you now! One of our longest challenges, ever. Why? Because our focus will be meeting your individual Strength & Conditioning goals as well as nutritional guidance and we’ll need more than 4-6 weeks to get us there and maintain the lifestyle. Want to press more? Drop a couple summer lbs? Increase your swing/snatch/squat/TGU time and/or weight? Improve your conditioning AND strength? Finally get that pistol squat or dead hang pull-up? This is the challenge you’ve been waiting…

StrongFirst & Val’s South Korea Trip

By News & Events, Pacific Strength No Comments

I’m going to South Korea! I’ve been invited to be a team leader at the StrongFirst Level 1 and Level 2 kettlebell certifications at the beginning of October. For those of you who’ve been training with me for a while, you know that I’ve been wanting to teach at the certifications since I first picked up a kettlebell. Part of the motivation was to be acknowledged as a leader in my field – but more than that, I wanted to be a leader in THIS organization. StrongFirst started as the RKC in 2002. Back then, the RKC  had the best…

Our very own SFG Team Leader, Val, has decided to accept the invitation to go to Seoul, South Korea to teach two StrongFirst Kettlebell Certifications. Level 1 the first weekend in October and Level 2 the second weekend. It is a huge honor to be asked to teach at any certification and the South Korea trip is a very special one. Val will be going with two of her mentors, Dr. Mark Cheng (Senior SFG) and Jon Engum (Master SFG) and she’ll be the first female and the first team leader to go to South Korea to teach at a certification. Val couldn’t be more excited…

Vacation Training

By News & Events, Pacific Strength No Comments

I’m not one to stress about training when I am on vacation but if I am going to be in a bikini for a week I want to feel comfortable, and staying active while vacationing just enhances my getaways! It can be quite a challenge to fit in a good practice/workout of any kind while away from home. Also, I don’t normally train with conventional equipment so I have to get creative with hotel equipment and bodyweight training or I just get bored out of my mind. Recently, I took up surfing so I knew that I would have a…

Healthy Pancake Recipe

By Pacific Strength, Recipes No Comments

Myself, I’m not a big breakfast kinda girl. My family, on the other hand loves a big weekend breakfast and at least once a month, on any given Sunday, I oblige them. This weekend was an unseasonably (for SoCal) cloudy, drizzly morning and the heat hadn’t kicked in yet so I took the opportunity to bust out my skillet and whip up a big breakfast for everyone. I’ll usually include eggs, bacon, and pancakes. We had all of my ingredients on hand so we were in luck! Today I’m sharing with you my tried and true recipe that will leave…
